"God does not love popluations, He loves people. He loves not masses, but individuals. He loves us all with a might love that has no beginning and can have no end." -AW Tozer
It has taken the better part of ten years for me to understand the calling of God and His purpose for my life. This ten-year journey has included leaving two careers and starting over with nothing. This journey has stretched me beyond what I thought was possible for me to endure and forced me to wrestle with my own stubborn resistance as God has led me into things that definitely were not my gifting or passion. Ten years after this great struggle began I have come to a simple conclusion. God’s purpose for my life is to transform me into something that is more like Him. It’s that simple. Everyday He desires to do something in me that leaves me looking more like Him. Becoming more like Him starts with, is centered on, and never strays from understanding His love. God’s love is not mushy, soft or passive. It stirs within us the strong desire to be bold, courageous and assertive in pursuing the individuals in our world who need a tangible reminder from Him that they are not forgotten, that their lives are not irrelevant, and that their potential has not been lost. God’s love is birthed from His heart, but it is felt and experienced through the obedience of others. That is His great vision for the gospel. One life being transformed into something more like Him impacting another life going through the same transformation.
During the months of December and January the leadership of Restoration Hope has been in a season of planning and prayer as we have sought to understand where the currents of God’s love were leading us in 2015. I wanted to share with you a few things He has revealed to us:
We are growing the number of workers we support. One of the keys to being an expression of God’s love to the community of Sweetwaters is through the mentors serving in that community daily. It is our belief that we need to stretch support from 4 workers to 7 in 2015. This is a step of faith and as such we are already sending that support now.
We need to grow our monthly donor base. We represent to individuals the opportunity to support and amazing group of people. We feel it is our duty to do everything we can to make the privilege of joining God’s work available to as many people as possible and be faithful in bringing the story of God’s work to life.
We need to engage more churches. We now have 4 separate churches that have joined us in our mission. Our prayer is that 6 more will come along side us to be our partners in praying and giving.
For the leadership of Restoration Hope, God has gone out of his way to consistently put this verse before us,
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
Restoration Hope is nothing more than a tangible expression of God’s love to the individuals who have sacrificed their lives to be a tangible expression of His love to the widowed, the poor, and the orphaned in Sweetwaters. Our role in God expressing His love is to be a source of financial, spiritual, and emotional support to the leaders who serve in Sweetwaters everyday. It is our hope and prayer that God’s transformational work in your life is calling you to join us in this great expression of His love. You can do that by:
